Frog Cake

This is a frog themed cake I designed for my Grandma's birthday this February.
She has always loved frogs and I wanted to incorporate that. Everything with the exception of the wires holding the flies and butterflies, is edible.
The top tier is lilly pad shaped and I think the frogs are adorable. One has a bow in her hair and the other has a bow-tie on his neck!

Max and Ruby Cake

Here are some pictures of the cakes we've done this far in hopes of making you impressed with our work enough to keep coming back and placing orders!

Please pardon our lack of a fancy (or clean) background for all of our pictures, we've learned the hard way and will be paying attention for the next ones!

This cake was per a specific request for a Max and Ruby theme. Neither Tiffany and I were very familiar with them so we had to do some serious research. We had liberty on how to incorporate them into a cake so Tiffany chose a castle theme. Everything is edible and the castle is made of cereal treats.

This design was all Tiffany's and I was very impressed with her ideas!
The bottom tier represents Andy's wall, the 2nd is Woody's Shirt, and the 3rd is Woody's vest.

Ladybug Cake

This ladybug cake taught us some valuable lessons! It was our first cake that required a fondant figure. Also we learned of the difficulty involved in getting white fondant to the darker and more vibrant colors we needed. We were unable to get the black black-enough. Our first batch of red became sticky and tasted terrible because of too much tint. We also learned that if the tiers are too close in size originally they are likely to lose size differences as we frost!
We frosted this cake with buttercream instead of using fondant and used Tiffany's air-brusher for the first time to get the bottom tier red. It was exhausting but came out pretty darn cute!

The request for this cake was "princess" themed and this is what Tiffany came up with!

This is Carl the Catfish. He is a test cake for one we will be doing this summer for Tiffany's adorable nephew.
This isn't what the final one will look like, but is a general idea and was great practice for us!

My first entry!

As blogs about everything and anything pop up all around my world and as I subsequently begin a new journey in my life in baking and decorating cakes, I decided it was time I try this out!

While I may not be the strongest writer in the world and perhaps I may not have the most interesting things to say, I will try my best to keep you intrigued and coming back with pictures of the cakes we do!

While the title may be Lacey Cakes, this is not a one-(wo)man show! My best friend Tiffany is my partner in crime and slightly more experienced: *idea generator*consultant*assistant*sanity* and most of all teacher!

We learn from looking at pictures, watching online videos, and watching the many TV shows about cakes. We are eager to try new things and techniques and love what we do!

You can contact me via this blog or my email!
That is it for my first post!
Thanks for reading.

With sugar and all things sweet,
